Ørestad Nord is Copenhagen’s new know-how centre for culture, media and communications technology.
The program for Ørestad North stipulated that the area be an experimental environment for new lifestyles and urban spaces in a network society. Different professions and commercial interests should work together to generate ideas and contacts that will give rise to new ways of interacting, new projects, and new products. Ørestad North is Copenhagen's modern center for culture, media, and communication technology. This is the site of the IT University of Copenhagen, Copenhagen University Amager Campus, and the Danish Broadcasting Corporation's media center, with its spectacular concert hall, designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel.
This is the Ørestad quarter that is farthest along in its development, and many residents have already moved in. Distinctive projects such as the Tietgenkollegiet student-housing facility and the Boligslangen residential complex have already been completed. The quarter has largely been built out, making room for a total of 2,000 residents, 5,000-10,000 employees, and 20,000 students.
