The Liim Fiord Bridge

The bridge replaced the older pontoon bridge, and is inseparably bound up with the development of the Vesterbro area. Ivar Tybjerg (of Kampmann, Kierluff and Saxild Engineering Firm) won the international competition as early as in 1919, but alterations of the winning proposal, problems with traffic solutions and expropriations meant that the work was not initiated until 1930. The steel surface of the roadway is carried by strong steel constructions resting upon massive granite piers. The colour scheme of the small bridge house is not the original.
