Århus City Hall

Århus Rådhus is subdivided in three sections designed according to main function-specific purposes. The main building fronting on the City Hall Square contains the city council conference room and the ceremonial hall, which can seat 600 persons. In continuation of the main building are two office blocks along Park Allé - one high and one low. The low office block with the gently curved roof houses inquiry offices, while the 4-storey middle section houses administration offices. Originally the building was designed without a tower, but by popular request the light and elegant tower was added. The building facades are faced with light, greyish-green marble, and the roof is covered with copper. Århus Rådhus is a protected building, and is today a classic in Danish functionalism.
