Realkredit Danmark (mortgage bank)

The old mortgage bank built in brick and granite is a historicist building. The building's symmetry, the protruding centre section with triangular frontispiece, is for instance classic baroque, while the main entrance and the stairway are inspired by the art nouveau style. The national romantic currents of that time find expression in the granite details on the facade and the reproduction of an escutcheon depicting the Jutland lion on the frontispiece.

The addition is a concrete construction sided with red brick. It stands like a long, narrow building built into the slope parallel with the main building. It ends in a pavilion, which has been rotated so as to follow the main orientation of the neighbouring building, Erhvervsarkivet (the Danish National Business Archives), the railing pattern of which recurs in the timber constructions of the pavilion. The small lantern refers to another neighbour, Tinghuset (the Courthouse).
