Sculpture by Danish artist Per Kirkeby

On the occasion of Copenhagen's role as European City of Culture the artist Per Kirkeby was commissioned to design a small brick sculpture for each end of the crooked Meldahlsgade. Compared to the artist's production over many years of brick sculptures in Denmark and abroad, the workmanship of these two works represents a durable version with copper copings and drip moulds. The artist has not attempted to adapt the two sculptures to the materials choice of the surrounding buildings, but has deliberately let them stand out from the context like two 'installations' or 'land arts'.
